Employee Spotlight – Dominique O’Connor

Tell us a little about yourself….
I was born and raised on Long Island and graduated from St. Joseph’s University. I began my career in Human Resources just after graduation, and in recent years I’ve focused on specializing in Recruitment. I’ve been with Marcum Search for almost 3 years.

How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
My career and skillset have grown immensely since joining Marcum Search. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned throughout my career, it’s that having a great boss and great teammates are what truly make the difference, and I am lucky to say that I have both.

In my career I am most proud of…
Where I am today! Starting out as an HR Assistant post-grad and now working as a Recruiter, I am so happy where I am and proud of all the hard work I had to do to get here!

My favorite quote is…
Do small things with great love.

Three words to describe myself…
Empathetic, hardworking, and loyal.

My perfect day is…
A beautiful 70-degree day spent walking around outside, trying a new coffee shop with my husband, and then going to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner!

Advice for my 16 year old self…
I would tell myself that there’s no sense in worrying about the future. Everything is going to work out!

Number 1 on my bucket list…
A trip to Italy.

The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
My parents for everything they taught me, and my husband for inspiring me every day.

A funny or memorable experience from your career or personal life?
I’ll never forget the time early on in my career when I was able to help a friend get a new job. She had been struggling financially, and I did everything I could to get her an interview. It turned out that the team loved her, and she was hired soon after. That’s when I first knew I loved recruiting.
