Employee Spotlight – Sharon Sognalian
Meet Sharon Sognalian - Director at Marcum Search
Tell us a little about yourself….
I am originally from LA but was raised in Orange County. I have been in Legal Staffing for 18 years and before that, Staffing for Advertising Agencies and Marketing departments at Corporations. I have an 11-year-old daughter named Delilah Rose and 2 cats – Cassie and Buttons.
How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
I started during the pandemic so I could only go up from there LOL. Over the last couple of years, I have been able to add to my candidate base and reconnect with so many candidates from the past. I have also been able to bring in a few clients of my own and am looking to do more of that moving forward.
My favorite quote is…
A Buddhist quote: “Right now, it’s like this”.
Three words to describe myself…
Energetic, Quirky and Creative.
My perfect day is…
When no one needs me for anything, and I can truly relax and sit in absolute silence whether that be meditation or maybe the end of an intense yoga class.
Advice for my 16 year old self…
Step away from the Aqua Net hair spray!
Number 1 on my bucket list…
Get back to travelling throughout Europe again.
The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
My father as he always had a very strong work ethic and was one of the hardest workers I’ve ever known. He is a very honest man and would always tell me to treat janitors the same as CEO’s and I still do that to this day.
A funny or memorable experience from your career or personal life?
I had a national law firm client and I was working with an out of state Paralegal who was looking to move to Los Angeles. I accidently sent her resume to this client and received an email back from the client stating, “why would I pay a fee when she already works at our firm”? It was the biggest recruiting mistake I have ever made, and I was so embarrassed! Luckily, the client and candidate forgave me!
In my career I am most proud of…
Being tenacious yet honest, ethical and loyal to my teammates.
