Employee Spotlight – Xiomara Fagundo
Meet Xiomara Fagundo - Director at Marcum Search
Tell us a little about yourself….
I was born in Salem, Oregon but raised my whole life in Miami, FL. I am the youngest of 3 siblings, we have a 26-year age difference; my mother had me at 45 years old! I obtained my bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in International Business. Did accounting for about 4 years and then decided I loved sales and wanted to utilize my skillset to change my career which is why I got into recruiting.
How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
Since I have joined Marcum, I have been able to learn public accounting more in depth as well as expand my knowledge on wealth management and the Midwest client relationships. I have always focused on recruiting for Finance & Accounting throughout my recruitment career but getting to learn and advance my knowledge in these sectors have made a huge impact to my professional growth.
My favorite quote is…
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. – Abraham Lincoln
Three words to describe myself…
Resilient, Empathic, Extrovert
My perfect day is…
Relaxing outdoors by the beach, hearing the waves and caching some sunshine while eating sushi & sipping on a coconut water
Advice for my 16 year old self…
Always invest in yourself and your future.
Number 1 on my bucket list…
Travel the Mediterranean, specifically Greece, Turkey, Morocco.
The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
Both my parents have had a huge impact in how I have grown up and lived my life but if I had to choose one person it would be my mom. She has worked since she was 14 years old and always set an example. She gave back to the community and was always the best friend you could have. Family knew they could always count on her no matter what. She has gone through many life struggles and still manages to move forward with a positive attitude, smiling and never defeated. I definitely get this trait from her 100%.
In my career I am most proud of…
Establishing long lasting relationships that carry over regardless the company I am working for. Also, seeing candidates I have placed come back to me and tell me how thankful and happy they are with my assistance and their career progression.
